Nr 308 The Truth About Your Thyroid and Essential Oils: What NO Endocrinologist Will Tell You

The thyroid is a large endocrine gland located in your neck/throat area, above your collar bone. This butterfly-shaped organ stimulates metabolism and controls the body’s circulation of calcium levels with the help of the parathyroid gland.
Most people do not pay much attention to this gland until there is a problem. The thyroids hormone production can be thrown out of balance. These imbalances can have a negative effect on the body.
Our thyroid is part of our endocrine system. The endocrine system has a unique delivery system, sending hormones to targeted organs and tissues. Essential oils can be beneficial since they use the same delivery system. There are specific oils that have been shown to support certain organs/glandular functions. Working together with your medical professional, you may consider the benefits of essential oils as well as modern medical treatments.
Frankicense (boswellia frerena), is steam distilled from the resin collected from the boswellia trees in Oman. Support for the pineal, hypothalamus and pituitary gland can be achieved with frankincense essential oil.
Sandalwood (santalum album), is steam distilled from the wood of the santalum trees of India. Support for the pineal, hypothalamus and pituitary gland can be achieved with sandalwood essential oil.
Geranium (pelargonium graveolens), is steam distilled from the leaves of the pelargonium plant, indigenous to China. Geranium essential oil is supportive of the hormone/glandular, and adrenal gland.
Ylang ylang (cananga odorata), is steam distilled with the flowers of ylang ylang grown in Madagascar. Ylang ylang essential oil is supportive of the hormone/glandular, and adrenal gland.
Clove (eugenia caryophyllata), is made from the steam distillation of the buds sourced from Madagascar. Clove essential oil is incredible supportive of the thyroid.
Lemongrass (cymbopogon flexuosus), is steam distilled from the lemongrass leaves of India. Supporting your thyroid with clove essential oil with the addition of lemongrass essential oil is especially beneficial.
Rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis), is steam distilled from the leaves of the Rosemary indigenous to Morocco. Rosemary is stimulating to the glands and brain function as well as offering support, specifically to the adrenal.
Myrrh (commiphora myrrha), is steam distilled from the collected resin of the trees thriving in Ethiopia. This essential oil is very beneficial for overall thyroid health and immune system support.
Basil (ocimum basilicum), is steam distilled from the basil leaves in the USA. Basil is found to be supportive of the adrenal, pancreas, parathyroid, pineal, and the pituitary gland.
Here are some of my favorite ways to use essential oils for thyroid health:
1. Rub a drop of myrrh essential oil (mixed with coconut oil) over your thyroid area each day.
2. Rub a drop of basil essential  oil on the adrenals each morning.

Make a roller ball  blend and use it daily on the bottom of your feet:

20 drops frankincense
20 drops myrrh
20 drops lemongrass
20 drops basil
Top off the roller ball with any carrier oil such as jojoba or coconut oil.
Essential oil usage tips:
•Topical use
Apply selected oils, diluted with choice of carrier oil (to avoid evaporation and prevent sensitivity), directly over location of the glands or to the corresponding reflex points on the feet
•Aromatic use
Place 5-10 drops of selected oils into an essential oil diffuser, or inhale directly from the bottle, from drops placed in your cupped hands, or apply to your clothing.

Nr 307 12 Things That Happen To Your Body When You Eat Eggs

1. YOU’LL REDUCE YOUR RISK OF HEART DISEASE

LDL cholesterol became known as “bad” cholesterol because LDL particles transport their fat molecules into artery walls, and drive atherosclerosis — basically, gumming up of the arteries. (HDL particles, by contrast, can removefat molecules from artery walls.) But not all LDL particles are made equal, and there are various subtypes that differ in size. Bigger is definitely better — many studies have shown that people who have predominantly small, dense LDL particles have a higher risk of heart disease than people who have mostly large LDL particles. Here’s the beauty part: Even if eggs tend to raise LDL cholesterol in some people, studies show that the LDL particles change from small and dense to large, slashing the risk of cardiovascular problems

2. YOU’LL BOOST Y IMMUNE SYSTEM

If you don’t want to play chicken with infections, viruses and diseases, add an egg or two to your diet daily. Just one large egg contains almost a quarter (22%) of your RDA of selenium, a nutrient that helps support your immune system and regulate thyroid hormones. Kids should eat eggs, especially. If children and adolescents don’t get enough selenium, they could develop Keshan disease and Kashin-Beck disease, two conditions that can affect the heart, bones and joints.

3.YOU’LL IMPROVE YOUR CHOLESTEROL PROFILE

There are three ideas about cholesterol that practically everyone knows: 1) High cholesterol is a bad thing; 2) There are good and bad kinds of cholesterol; 3) Eggs contain plenty of it. Doctors are generally most concerned with the ratio of “good” cholesterol (HDL) to bad cholesterol (LDL). One large egg contains 212 mg of cholesterol, but this doesn’t mean that eggs will raise the “bad” kind in the blood. The body constantly produces cholesterol on its own, and a large body of evidence indicates that eggs can actually improve your cholesterol profile. How? Eggs seem to raise HDL (good) cholesterol while increasing the size of LDL particles.

4.YOU’LL HAVE MORE GET-UP-AND-GO

Just one egg contains about 15% of your RDA of vitamin B2, also called riboflavin. It’s just one of eight B vitamins, which all help the body to convert food into fuel, which in turn is used to produce energy. Eggs are just one of the25 Best Foods for a Toned Body!

5. YOUR SKIN AND HAIR WILL IMPROVE

B-complex vitamins are also necessary for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver. (In addition to vitamin B2, eggs are also rich in B5 and B12.) They also help to ensure the proper function of the nervous system. For more foods full of B vitamins, click here for this list of the essential 40 Best Foods for Muscle and Strength!

6.YOU’LL FEEL FULLER AND EAT LESS

Eggs are such a good source of quality protein that all other sources of protein are measured against them. (Eggs get a perfect score of 100.) Many studies have demonstrated the effect of high-protein foods on appetite. Simply put, they take the edge off. You might not be surprised to learn that eggs score high on a scale called the Satiety Index, a measure of how much foods contribute to the feeling of fullness

7.YOU’LL LOSE FAT

Largely because of their satiating power, eggs have been linked with fat loss. A study on this produced some remarkable results: Over an eight-week period, people ate a breakfast of either eggs or bagels, which contained the same amount of calories. The egg group lost 65% more body weight, 16% more body fat, experienced a 61% greater reduction in BMI and saw a 34% greater reduction in waist circumference!

8.YOU’LL PROTECT YOUR BRAIN

Eggs are brain food. That’s largely because of an essential nutrient calledcholine. It’s a component of cell membranes and is required to synthesize acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. Studies have shown that a lack of choline has been linked to neurological disorders and decreased cognitive function. Shockingly, more than 90% of Americans eat less than the daily recommended amount of choline, according to a U.S. dietary survey.

9.YOU’LL SAVE YOUR LIFE

Among the lesser-known amazing things the body can do: It can make 11 essential amino acids, which are necessary to sustain life. Thing is, there are 20 essential amino acids that your body needs. Guess where the other 9 can be found? That’s right. A lack of those 9 amino acids can lead to muscle wasting, decreased immune response, weakness, fatigue, and changes to the texture of your skin and hair.

10.YOU’LL HAVE LESS STRESS AND ANXIETY

If you’re deficient in the 9 amino acids that can be found in an egg, it can have mental effects. A 2004 study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences described how supplementing a population’s diet with lysine significantly reduced anxiety and stress levels, possibly by modulating serotonin in the nervous system. For more relaxing foods, check out these 20 Foods That Keep You Slim for Life!

11.YOU’LL PROTECT YOUR PEEPERS

Two antioxidants found in eggs — lutein and zeaxanthin — have powerful protective effects on the eyes. You won’t find them in a carton of Egg Beaters — they only exist in the yolk. The antioxidants significantly reduce the risk of macular degeneration and cataracts, which are among the leading causes of vision impairment and blindness in the elderly. In a study published in theAmerican Journal of Clinical Nutrition, participants who ate 1.3 egg yolks per day for four-and-a-half weeks saw increased blood levels of zeaxanthin by 114-142% and lutein by 28-50%!

12.YOU’LL IMPROVE YOUR BONES AND TEETH

Eggs are one of the few natural sources of Vitamin D, which is important for the health and strength of bones and teeth. It does this primarily by aiding the absorption of calcium. (Calcium, incidentally, is important for a healthy heart, colon and metabolism.) For more easy metabolism-boosting tips, check out these 55 Best Ways to Boost Your Metabolism!

Nr 304 Bakingsoda

Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is extremely cheap, but a very powerful ingredient. This ingredient can be used to fight colds and even cancer. You can also use it for oral hygiene, deodorants, etc. After drinking baking soda and water, many of us burp, but do you know what this means?
Many people around the world use baking soda. You can use this super healthy ingredient to treat and prevent many health problems, such as: diarrhea prevention, acidity, drug intoxication, metabolic acidosis and peptic ulcer. Baking soda has many antipruritic properties and keeps your skin healthy and glowing. Use it to eliminate plague and colds. You should also know that baking soda contains sodium and can prevent hyperkalemia, kidney stones and infections of the bladder.
  1. Neutralize Stomach Acid
Restore your pH balance easily by drinking a mixture of ½ tsp. baking soda and 1 cup of water. The body often turns acidic as a result of an unhealthy diet, but baking soda neutralizes this acidity and restores the body’s pH. The famous Doctor and Nobel prize winner Otto Warburg, has discovered that cancer cells can’t survive in an alkaline environment; these cells only thrive in an acidic body. In other words, keeping your body alkaline actually protects your health in general.
  1. Relieve Heartburn
According to the experts, heartburn is usually caused by acid buildup in the stomach. When this acid goes up the esophagus, a person experiences a burning sensation, a discomfort known as heartburn. Baking soda, which effectively neutralizes the acid at the source, can provide immediate relief.
  1. Eliminate UTI
Cancer cells and bacteria thrive in an acidic environment. Well, this means that if you are suffering from a UTI (urinary tract infection), you should drink baking soda water on a regular daily basis until the infection is over. A teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in a glass of water will do, but if symptoms persist, you should see your doctor.
  1. Relieve Gout Pain
Gout is joint inflammation caused by uric acid buildup in your body. You can drink a sodium bicarbonate water mixture to relieve gout pain, because it prevents acid accumulation in the body.
  1. Reduce Symptoms of Cold and Flu
Baking soda can effectively kill the virus if taken in the early stages of the infection. These are the recommended doses:
Day 1: 6 doses of ½ tsp. baking soda mixed with cool water every 2 hours.
Day 2: 4 doses of the same mixture every 3 hours.
Day 3: 2 doses of the mixture – one in the morning and one in the evening.
Day 4: 1 dose a day until the symptoms disappear.
  1. Relieve Kidney Stone Discomfort
You should be careful, because uric acid buildup can be the cause for kidney stones as well. Drinking baking soda water regularly dissolves the stones and prevents the formation of new ones. You should see your doctor before you use this home remedy.
  1. Improve Physical Performance
Among other things, baking soda water can also improve physical performance because the alkalinity of the sodium bicarbonate reduces the levels of lactic acid produced by the muscles, thus allowing harder and longer training.
This is a Test for Low-stomach-acid
The stomach produces hydrochloric acid, or HCL, as an aid to digestion. HCL is needed to break down proteins into essential amino acids, motivate the pancreas and prevent disease by killing harmful bacteria. Low HCL can cause a variety of gastric problems including heartburn, indigestion, constipation and bloating.Note: to test your stomach acid levels, there are methods you can try at home. The most accurate methods, however, involve laboratory tests ordered by your physician. Conduct an at-home test to see if your HCL is low. Mix 1/4 tsp. of baking soda in an 8 oz. glass of cold water. Drink the baking soda and water mixture first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything. Time how long it takes to belch after drinking the mixture. You should belch within 2 to 3 minutes if your HCL is adequate.
